Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh is famous for its Vayu Lingam, where grand pujas and special Rahu-Ketu dosha nivarana pujas are performed. The Amarnath Cave in Jammu & Kashmir, with its naturally occurring Ice Lingam, is a challenging yet revered destination for pilgrims. This year, the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore will live-stream its Maha Shivratri celebrations, featuring renowned performers like Ajay-Atul and Sounds of Isha. The event includes a midnight Mahamantra initiation by Sadhguru and a Shambho Meditation session during Brahma Muhurtham.
Maha Shivratri is also a time when political leaders extend their wishes to the nation. In Prayagraj, the Maha Kumbh Mela concluded with a grand ‘Shahi Snan’ on Mahashivratri, where devotees gathered for a holy dip. This event was marked by heightened security and traffic diversions.
